The xbible project is about putting the word of God on a low cost USB flash drive. The gives the advantage of sending a lot of information in a tiny package which keeps shipping costs nice and low. Multiple books are available which are handy for those who speak two, three or more languages.
It also means the bible can be spread to countries where the gospel is not welcome, for example much of the Islamic world. The product has the contents encrypted, and the startup process requires a password to see the content, making the product’s purpose not obvious, as there are no files kept to what it does.
For the persecuted church
Designed for discrete operation, you could carry bibles and ministry tools through an airport/border crossing into a nation where evangelism is not welcome
A gift for a friend in your neighbourhood or someone in you met on the internet who is taking an interest in Christianity who comes from a different religious background
Disciple new Christians who live in places where bible distribution is not common
Something for Christians from other countries working (there are many people from Philippines or Thailand working as nurses and care workers) in Gulf Arab countries where it might be not be easy to bring a bible into the country
To reconcile Jews and Arabs through the message of Jesus, we also hope it helps Sunni and Shiite Muslim Arabs as well as Turks, Persians and Kurds in a region of the world where relations have been difficult.
For the illiterate or blind. Bibles available as MP3 audio format. Listen on the stick using included player, or copy to your phone or burn a disc.
Christians who have a curiosity in technology and how the scriptures can be distributed in a way for hostile places
Not all content is reliant on live internet connection, this makes it ideal for communities where broadband adoption, wireless hotspots and 3G/4G is costly or not common
Low cost for small ministry budgets and to be cheap enough for casual purchase by the ordinary Christian public
The xbible project aims to work towards peace for Jewish, Arab, Persian, Turkish and Kurdish – all of the middle east through faith in the Jewish Messiah Jesus.
For Jewish people who know Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah, they keep Jewish practices in observing Shabbat and holidays. So it was natural we wanted to provide an easy way to look up Jewish holidays and Hebrew dates. We may try and add candle lighting times for Shabbat at some point soon.
This feature on the xbible USB flash drive can be viewed on a browser and just requires a live connection to the internet. Or, you can just scroll through different months here.
In the past, Jewish people have had to rely on web sites like Chabad.org, but many of the Chabad movement mistakenly follow a Rabbi in New York City as their Messiah, therefore we have provided this easy way to look up important dates here.
In recent times, some Christians have found they have undiscovered Jewish background and are keep to learn out to keep the holidays, some Christians who are purely gentile are just curious about the Hebrew roots of Christianity.
Thanks to Google and HebCal which provides this.
Did you think this was Microsoft Word? You could be forgiven for thinking so, it looks very similar to Word 2000 or 2003!!
This is AbiWord which is a free open source word processor application we have included on the xBible. The layout of the icons for all the functions is close enough to Microsoft Word 2003 without having to pay for a copy or use a illegally obtained copy.
Here, our computer has Microsoft Word 2010, and with this and many other traditional apps on your computer, it tends to show what documents which have been recently worked on, if someone has logged onto the same profile as you, making it not secure, with a public or shared computer.
AbiWord is perfect for writing letters for home or business, you can also use this for bible notes or anything.
‘Unmount’ your xBible USB flash drive when you have finished and you can carry your word processor onto another computer.
Reminder: we don’t write these applications as we just found these goodies to bundle them into the xBible project, if you need technical help with AbiWord, here is the support page: http://www.abisource.com/
