We love OpenSong!!
This is a free application for displaying the lyrics to worship music. The words can also have guitar chords on there which on a multi-screen system which can be made invisible for the people in the audience and only visible for the worship team.
We think this is perfect for a small home group church and has exciting potential for small scale congregation who only needs a laptop and a large screen monitor or projector.
As well creating sets of words for each song, a pre-made up pattern of which songs are to be played by the band, so the person operating during the service doesn’t need computer or musical experience, only to press up and down arrows on the keyboard to shuffle to the different verses and choruses.
For someone setting up a fledgling church in a location that is hostile to Christianity, they can carry a laptop and a projector and authorities can just assume they are a traveling salesman.
As well as Open Song will be included on xBible, you can get a regular version of Open Song from the web site for PC or Mac for free from http://www.opensong.org/
Introducing Radio Shema FM from Istanbul Turkey!
Turkey’s only Christian radio station has some good content, some mainstream American Christian music and local Turkish stuff. I think the number of believers is very small, so I’m guessing worship music in Turkish must be something of an extreme rarity.
Interesting thing of note, Shema sounds like Hebrew ( שמאי) for ‘hear’
Today although Turkey is 99% Islamic, we should remember that the gospel came out of this region – Paul was from Tarsius which was in Asia Minor back then. Its interesting how things go full circle.
As Turkey is a large country it would be interesting challenge to get it out the whole nation on regular FM frequency.
Using xBible, you will be able to listen to a wide choice of Christian radio stations in English and middle east languages, including Radio Shema using the popular VLC media player included. Technical know how is not required, these are accessed through menus. Our developers now need to tweak VLC player to strip it down just to the basics for playing internet radio channels.
Have to admit, only discovered this app last week;
This looks like a very professional and polished application for writing music, yet free and can be run from a USB flash drive.
A friend of mine needed something like this for her 15 year old son who is studying piano.
Certainly from the layout and features of this app, it looks superb.
We have added it this week. We hope it will encourage more people to write Christian worship music especially in areas where the gospel is hard to reach.
You can see the home page for this application here:-
